Sid Booker's Shrimp Corner
About This Spot
Sid Booker’s Shrimp Corner is the kind of place where the day slows just enough to let you breathe in the rhythms of North Philly living. Nestled on a bustling street corner, its modest storefront hums with the promise of something familiar yet cherished—a quiet ritual for locals who know that great food can be simple, honest, and marked by the kind of care that doesn’t need to shout.
Walking up, you’re greeted first by the subtle crackle of frying shrimp and the unmistakable scent of seasoned fries—crispy, golden, and dusted in just the right blend of spice. It’s not a polished or pretentious setting, but rather one that feels rooted in a neighborhood’s everyday pulse. The pace is steady but unhurried, a small world where quick exchanges at the window hold a warmth all their own.
The experience is about finding comfort in consistency. Here, fried shrimp isn’t a fancy dish, it’s a dependable delight, a shared moment in a busy day. Many come for the dozen shrimp piled just right beside salt and pepper crinkle fries, the sort of combo that feels like a small celebration of local flavor. There’s also a natural give-and-take—the lively banter, the quick smile or the playful attitude from the crew—making every visit feel familiar without being routine.
Sid Booker’s thrives on more than just the food. It’s the place you come back to because it feels like a piece of your neighborhood’s story, held together by crispy crusts and the kind of simple service that understands its community. This is a spot where the food warms you up physically, but it’s the atmosphere—the people, the corner, the everyday moments—that make it truly memorable.

Grabbing shrimp from Sid Booker’s is more than just grabbing shrimp. This place is a North Philly staple and at this point should be a landmark. A dozen shrimp and fries only took about 10 minutes to prepare. Were they the best shrimp I’ve ever had – no. Was the cashier the most welcoming – hell no lol. But the fried butterfly shrimp always hits the spot and I will be back! I don’t ever want to see a day where this establish isn’t a part of my city. Thank you Sid
